Sketch 1
Title:
Sketch Comedy Writing Level 1 with Meredith Jacobs (In Person)
Cost: $200
Class Limit: 12
Duration: 6 weeks (Mondays starting April 18, 7-9 pm)
Location: Strike Theater
Class description:
SNL. Key & Peele. Tim and Eric. Inside Amy Schumer. Monty Python. All of these shows have one thing in common - they use sketch comedy to build incredible shows. The ability to take a fledgling idea and turn it into a sketch is a great way to express your comedic chops.
No clue what a sketch even is? No problem. You’ll learn!
In Sketch Comedy Writing Level 1, you will focus on the most important part of the process: idea generation. You will learn the essential pieces of a sketch so you can begin creating your own.
By the end of class you will be able to identify potential ideas in your everyday life, break down sketches piece by piece, and even have some drafts of your own. That’s right, after Level 1, you will be a sketch comedian!
Who should take this class:
Anyone and everyone! No experience necessary. All skill levels are welcome. For rookies, you’ll be introduced to common terms in comedic writing and put pen to paper (Maybe for the first time! Yay!). For advanced writers, you will begin to learn about the Strike Theater-preferred approach to sketch writing.
